Junkie Love

by Phil Shoenfelt

Beautiful.  A great story of drugs, sex and trying to figure things out in our fucked up world.  I couldn't put this book down.  I even just sat a looked at the cover sometimes.

Speaking of the cover, the fine publishers at Twisted Spoon use the coolest materials to put together their books.  The cover is black is a very hard soft cover.  And several illustrations are included....neurotic illustrations depicting the psychosis going on in the character's head....complimenting the written word.

Back to the story and the ultimate question, aren't we all junkies in one way or another?  Addicted to our jobs.  Addicted to certain lifestyles.  Craving good feelings and acceptance while never really being as happy as we thought we would be.

Lexicon Devil
The Fast Times and Short Life of Darby Crash and The Germs
by Brendan Mullen

Lots of great stuff in this book.  Tons of amazing pictures capturing Darby Crash and his accomplices.  Brendan, Don and Adam have done a great job compiling first hand accounts from the likes of Pat Smear, Rik L Rik, John Doe, Mike Watt and more.  I wish all biographies and retrospectives were as well executed as Lexicon Devil.

Perfume : The Story of a Murderer...
by Patrick Suskind

This book is pure genius.  Perfume dumps us into the absurd and grotesque world of Grenouille, a man with an insatiable greed for scent.  Grenouille reminds me a bit of Euchrid in Nick Cave's "And the Ass Saw the Angel".  Rumor has it Ridley Scott is in development to direct the film version.
