John Hodges - May 2007

FOURTEEN ANGELS

last night i
talked to angels
they hissed magnesium
vernacular burning melodies
dressed in digital
cloth intoxicating me
aluminum eyes soap
scum lips god
as my witness
i loved them

last night i
saw my dog
chewing on a
stranger’s skull it
looked up grinning

said you are
just another prophet
a liar god
as my witness
i believed him

last night i
tried to slay
demons that dwell
in my skin
and ended up
with a nasty
papercut and i
limped my way
to bed god
as my witness

John Hodges is a 19 year-old kid from Louisville, KY.  He's a fairly new poet, only having written for a few years. He has no previous publication experience and as this is the first time submitting any of his work.  Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated since he'd like to grow as a better writer.
