CHECK POINT CHARLIE’S, NEW ORLEANS
"Nobody is Ugly After 2 AM."
Is what the sticker on the wall
behind the bartender says.
Charlie's is one of those
bars that doesn't look so good
in the daytime. I'm betting
that everything changes at night,
even though beer will cost you
twice the price,
drinking is always good.
For now, I'm enjoying the beauty
of an afternoon beer
at half the price,
and watching the pretty redhead
scraping the old, stubborn
grease from the grill
with all her might,
She turns to me, smiles and asks
if I want anything else,
I tip my glass and say yes.
There's always something else
that I need when I'm in a bar.
Here at Charlie's, I'm thinking
that I might have it all
by the end of the night.
