PLUGGED POEM # 7

Whole Foods is the place to be
Where I can get everything I need
Some people carry recycling bags
To take the foods that they eat home
In something that they will be able to buy,
Possibly, the same types of foods in when they come
Next time:
Cucumbers
Different cucumbers
Cans of tuna that are not the tuna they will eat today
Blue Sky Soda that
Will even be the same flavor
But, it won't be the exact same soda.
It will be the soda that recaptures the memory of the soda they are buying today,
Or was today's the soda recapturing the memory of the soda they bought last time?
Or five times ago
Or the one they tried out of nowhere
At a friend's casual dinner party
The one where everyone laughed about the list of stuff
That white people like,
Buying it for yourself at the Whole Foods in a bag that
Implies that you may buy it again
That you can if you want to
