SEEKING THAT TELL TALE SIGN

The dead
free us as much as the living
constrain us.

Degrees
of fidelity they—
ask questions.

What
do you know? Vows
are dangerous.

Caught
in the moment you
don’t know what you’re doing.

Come back;—
you are always seeing someone
else.

Vivisection
is not
practical.

A former (18 years) Oakland resident and now well on my way to being a crazy cat lady, I reside in sunny Oregon with my husband and our five “children.” My poems have appeared or are forthcoming in such journals as Alehouse Press, Arabesques Review (Contemporary Women Writers, edition), Ellipsis, Pank, and PMS. I interned for CALYX Journal in the winter of 2005 and won a writing residency from Soapstone in 2006.
